These Five Apps Will Bring Up Your Grade!

Phones play a huge part in all of our lives. For one, it keeps us up to date with all the latest news and trends. It provides social media and saves you from awkward situations. But phones can go against you as well. Most cases are found within a school. The use of a smartphone can divert your attention from what you should be focusing on, and instead, toys with your mind. Homework is forgotten as thousands of teens open up their Snapchat and Instagram every day, forgetting about their "big test" the next day. Phones can often lead to falling grades. Many apps are constructed to have you addicted to your phone in a way where you can't stop playing.

But these five apps do the opposite. Instead of wasting your time, these apps will help you keep not only your homework on track but also your life's time-management skills.

1. Forest:
This app is designed much like the Pomorodo technique. It's made to help you with time management. On your phone, you press a "plant" button, and a small seedling pops up on your phone. Your job is to grow this plant, and you do that by ignoring your phone, which gives the plant time to grow. Every completed term will mean a sprout of a new plant, which will eventually lead you to grow a forest. If you exit the app or use other apps, your plant dies. This may seem childish, but it actually helps improve your self-control, as well as your academics.
2. Tinycards: An app created by Duolingo, TinyCards allows users to create their own flashcards to memorize on the go, and allows them to share their knowledge with others. It's very much like Quizlet, except with a simpler design that makes it more mobile friendly.
3. Socratic: The app lets you take photos of your math work, and solves it for you while giving you an explanation of what was done to solve it. This is effective for students who may be struggling with math, and it's very effective, as long as you don't abuse it. I've met too many students who were caught by the teacher because they used it on tests. Socratic is meant to be used to help you learn and understand your mistakes so you'll be better prepared for any upcoming tests. Use it wisely!
4. Coffitivity: This app is meant for people who want to study without being disrupted by other noises. Coffitivity allows you to listen to the ambient sounds in coffee shops. Not into that? Coffitivity also allows you to play your own music.
5. Dragon Dictation: Ever felt so tired of typing, your hands felt like falling off? This app solves all that. Dragon Dictation does just what you always wanted - it translates your text to speech! This can effectively save a lot of your time, which makes it easier to avoid late night homework stress!

All apps are available on both Apple and Android, and to the best of my knowledge, they're all free. Finally, you can use your phone to do your homework productively! Try them out, and I wish you best of luck with your grades!
