Lake Ontario (Sonnet)
Lake Ontario
Last night a nostalgic encounter came to me as a dream
I saw two people with hands clasped together, how discerning
And as they kiss, I feel tingling warmth pass through my bloodstream
Stealing it from my heart, leaving only insatiable yearning
My mind follows pursuit, building fantasies on Lake Ontario
Having you there with me, someone I can stare at with wonder
But it seems foolish to chase such a silly little scenario
When I knew such fantasies would lead us asunder
I wish I had the same opportunities to be so exquisite
To live a life with intrigue, not one stubbornly monotonous
Alas, I am drowned, as I lack a sole yet essential prerequisite
Because to you, my face reminds you of nothing but rottenness
I arise from this dream turned nightmare, on my lips a prayer
For God to send to me someone without a hidden love affair
